Since 1935, the Chapel House at Frederick Douglass Memorial Park has stood as a place of dignity, reflection, and service. As thousands of families passed through its doors, the Chapel became the emotional and historical center of the cemetery.
Today, this landmark building requires full restoration—and we need your help to preserve it for future generations.
A Strong Start
Grant Support Secures the Roof
We are honored to be the recipient of a generous grant from the New York City Landmark Preservation Commission and the New York Landmarks Conservancy through the Nonprofit Technical Assistance Grant Program, along with support from The Staten Island Foundation. This funding initiates the roof replacement, the first critical step in preserving the Chapel House.
But the work ahead is substantial.
