Frederick Douglass Memorial Park invites the community to join us for City of Forest Day, presented by Brooklyn Central Southeast Brooklyn CDC, Frederick Douglass Memorial Park, and the NAACP.
The Spirit Trees of Frederick Douglass Memorial Park
Join us as we gather in community and commune with the Spirit Trees of Frederick Douglass Memorial Park—honoring the living landscape that has stood alongside generations of families and visitors to this historic cemetery.
Throughout the afternoon, we will come together to steward the trees, bless the land, and deepen our understanding of the history of Frederick Douglass Memorial Park.
The program will include an opportunity to learn about the cemetery and its historic landscape from public historian Debbie-Ann Paige and Frederick Douglass Memorial Park Board Secretary Lynn Cuffee.
City of Forest Day is an invitation to recognize the important relationship between trees, land, history, and community. At Frederick Douglass Memorial Park, the landscape is more than a backdrop—it is part of the story. The trees have witnessed generations of remembrance, gathering, and care.
Come spend the afternoon with us as we honor the land, care for the trees, and learn more about the history held within Frederick Douglass Memorial Park.
