Care for Your Cemetery Day

Join us for our 2nd Annual “Care for Your Cemetery” Day at Frederick Douglass Memorial Park on Saturday, April 25, 2026—a day rooted in community, care, and connection. We will begin at 10 am and wrap up the day at 3 pm.

This special event is part of the statewide initiative led by the New York State Department of State Division of Cemeteries, which hosts its 3rd annual Caring for Your Cemetery Day to support and uplift burial grounds across New York.

Inspired by the spirit of service behind New York’s beloved park volunteer programs, this day invites individuals, families, and community groups to come together in stewardship of this historic space.

What to Expect

Volunteers will assist with light, meaningful tasks such as:

  • Cleaning up debris, trash, and seasonal items

  • Planting flowers and beautifying the grounds

  • Removing weeds, overgrowth, and fallen branches

  • Scattering grass seed and supporting landscape care

No experience is necessary—just a willingness to lend a hand.

We’ve Got You Covered

All tools and materials will be provided, along with refreshments for volunteers throughout the day.

A Day of Love in Action

“Love Your Cemetery” Day is more than a clean-up—it’s an opportunity to honor those who came before us while investing in the future of this sacred ground.
